I Must Rant

And it's all due to my own scatterbrained stupidity -_-'  But in the interest of not spoiling your day, the following will be placed under a cut so you can continue with your sunshine-and-lollipops day, if you so choose (but if you're really curious of what's got me so uptight, then consider yourself warned).

I spent the last two days in town listening to some people's incessant whining waiting for some big-wig business guys to finalize a deal our family LLC is part of and I have to sign off on.  But, aforementioned big-wig business guys decided that Monday would be a lovely day to spend on the golf course instead of doing something productive, so I basically spent my time in town doing nothing (I can see why CEOs and other heads of corporations get plastered as stereotypical uncaring rich folk.  Then again, you have idiots represented in all walks of life).  Between the downer company I had to keep and my frustration at being made to wait to sign this paperwork (and just plain old hormones, coupled with my more-or-less usual dose of stress), I was not in the most pleasant of moods.

Nevertheless, I managed to work on some homework, including a paper that I have due this Saturday.  For part of this paper, I observed a high school librarian doing reference work with students   I found some articles to go with it and I spent some time reviewing those.  I figured I could get started on actually writing the paper today.

Except Dad informed me that he needed me to come out to the ranch today and tomorrow and help him with a few things, but it turned out not to be that big of a deal (but it was nice to be able to come home and do some laundry and have some quiet "Me Time").  Anyway, to my scatterbrained stupidity - my notes from my observation are in a notebook that I shoved in my church bag in an effort to straighten things up in our house in town.  Since I don't use the things in my church bag when I'm out to the ranch, I decided to leave it in town in an effort to not haul my entire life with me everywhere I go.  But what did I forget to grad out of my church bag?  That's right - my observation notes!  So, I am home, pretty much done with what my dad wanted me to do and having some extra time to work on my paper and I don't even have the notes I need!  Oh, and I left my external hard drive sitting on our computer in town, so I don't even have most of my other self-inflicted projects to work on either.

Someday, I will have one house with my own bedroom/office with one computer (plus-or-minus a laptop) and I will know where everything is and I won't have to deal with all my personal belongings scattered over three counties!  Normal people don't live this way, do they? *headdesk*  Oy... my family's just nuts

PS - Oh, I know I'm going to get in trouble for carping about some people's incessant whining.  Mmmm... don'care (someday, when I feel like being a harpy shrew, I should chronicle this entire soap opera.  If only for the amusement of my posterity - and certainly not on LiveJournal.  I'm sure my flist have their own problems to concern themselves with).

PPS - Cutting through my rantings and general frustration with life (and so you don't think that my life is a total crap-sandwich), I found the first(ish) episode of "Doctor Who" online (the first one with Christopher Eccleston - which confused the heck out of me because I thought David Tennant was the main guy.  But then, Wikipedia obliged with an explanation of the Doctor's regeneration and what-have-you and I was satisfied).  Anyway, I quite liked what I saw and I have since set my DVR to record "Doctor Who" because I'm not a fan of watching shows online with Chinese subtitles.  I figure since "24" has ended and "Heroes" is set to end and "CSI" has jumped the shark, I guess I need something new to fangirl over (and none of network TV's summer offerings look that great - then again, do they ever?).  S'pose I should find some "Doctor Who" iconage to go along with it (yay!  Something happy to look forward to!!)

Nope, we don't have Netflix (darn it). Do I need to be caught up to speed on Doctor Who to know what's going on or is it okay to just start wherever?

You can watch this season from wherever, honestly because it's a brand new doctor (matt smith) and the stories are kind of independent. I think that's what's coming up on BBC America these days. However, Seasons 1-4 really need to be watched in order for the full, mind-blowing, soul-crushing effect. I highly recommend that. :) I am SO JEALOUS that you get to watch it for the first time. I've never loved a show so much. *squish*
