So, I keep seeing ads about Toyota and their commitment to fixing their recall problems.  It's great that they're trying their best to make things right, as well they should.  Personally, I'm happy to be a Ford girl *hugs Explorer*

The only time I've driven a Toyota was on my mission because the Church buys Corollas for the missionaries to use.  It was okay - I got in a minor fender-bender in the one I drove - but it's not my favorite car.  Luckily, I only drove the Corolla in one area, then I was transferred to another area that had a Chevy Malibu, which was the closest thing to 4-wheel drive the mission had.  In spite of my loyalty to Ford, I loved that sucker.  Lots of room and fast - and it was just fun to drive.  In fact, if I ever feel the need to trade in my Explorer and downsize, I would consider the Malibu (not all Ford people hate Chevy, you know).

This is the second Explorer I've had.  I learned to drive in one and we drove that thing into the ground - literally.  When I was away at college, my sister drove it to school for a couple of years (on 20 miles of dirt road one-way) and she rolled it one day.  The body and everything was totaled (my sister and brother were fine), but the engine still ran - kind of a cool story that I'll tell another time.

The only way I'll probably not have an Explorer is if/when I get married and my hubby insists that, for the sake of gas mileage and what-have-you, we'll have to trade it in for something a bit more efficient (never mind that my Explorer gets an average 20 MPG - it's been known to get 40 in some places - but that's all highway.  In town, the average MPG goes down.  But I do a LOT of highway driving, on dirt no less - and that's just to get to a grocery store.  Maybe when I settle down I'll need to rethink things).  My sister had an Explorer Sport and her husband suggested that she get something smaller so they could save on gas money.  She ended up with a Pontiac Grand Am and they're going to sell her Explorer.  I wanted to cry for her because she's having to give up her Explorer, but that's because I'm a nerd that way.  And she's a lot more practical than I am, so she doesn't care.  Shoot, she got a new (to her) car!  Why should she be sad?

Again, I'm not sure why I felt the need to bring this up.  Just a stray thought, I suppose (not to mention a wild tangent too boot) ^_^
