We Thank Thee, O God, for a Prophet

President Gordon B. Hinckley, prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, just passed away.  He was such an amazing man and an amazing leader and... wow... what else can you say?  He was the prophet of my youth and I have so many good memories of him.  He did so much in the twelve years that he was president - temple work, spreading the gospel, helping correct misconceptions about the church - the list goes on.  He seemed like in such good health that it felt like he was going to live forever.  He was so wise and positive and he always had the Spirit with him.  Even though I never met him in person, there is no way you can deny that he was called of God to lead the church.

He was 97 years old, so it's not surprising, but still, it's the way you feel when your beloved grandparents pass away.  President Hinckley was someone you could trust and whose wisdom you could always take and improve your life with.  He was a great man of God and he will be missed immensely.

It's times like these that I'm glad of my testimony.  God's house is a house of order and we know who our next leader will be.  President Thomas S. Monson is also a great man of God and he will lead the church where it's supposed to go.  But, I'm still going to miss President Hinckley.
