Down Memory Lane
Sep. 8th, 2005 02:04 pmAnywhoo, I was perusing the My Documents folder on my laptop and I beheld a filk that I wrote for Order of the Phoenix that I never posted on the HP Filk site or anywhere else for that matter. For this reason, I submit "School Wreckers" in honor of Fred and George Weasley, because it's acutally one of my better ones:
School Wreckers
Tune of “Homewrecker” by Gretchen Wilson
SCENE: Fred and George decide a little mayhem is what Dolores Umbridge, the newly appointed Head of Hogwarts, deserves
FRED:
Well, she’s a real hot shot with her new power
Filch on her side and her “Head” plaque
Dolores is takin’ over
GEORGE:
Yeah, she didn’t work out that we’d fight back
We’ll smile like such good kids
Innocent and sweet
But we’ll drive Umbridge crazy right before we leave
‘Cause we’re the
BOTH:
School Wreckers
We know what we’re doin’
Standin’ up for Dumbledore, do our part
Show who’s boss
Yeah, we’ll go get her
Teachin’ her a lesson
She’s been messin’ with our school
And that’s not cool
Against the School Wreckers
FRED:
We two have wanted for a long, long time
To reward that slime
To put her in her place
GEORGE (to the Trio):
You guys better move ‘fore you get framed
While we set Miss Umbridge a few things straight
FRED:
Vanish the “I” Squad members
Light our ‘works inside
Now the swamp’s our last tribute
Before we hit our stride
BOTH:
We’re the School Wreckers
Show off our merchandise
Come visit us at number ninety-three
Diagon Alley
And promise to get her
We’ll give you a good deal
And she can rant and rail
FRED:
But Peeves’ll give her hell
In name of the School Wreckers
FRED and GEORGE fly away to CHEERS and a last salute from
PEEVES
STUDENTS and PEEVES (to Umbridge):
Now we’re all good kids here, but if you keep this up
We’re gonna to go kickin’ your frog-faced butt
Is that clear enough?
Yeah, we’re the new
School Wreckers
Learnin’ from the best
She thinks that she’ll ruin what we’ve got
But she’s not
Yeah, we’ll go get her
New School Wreckers
Weasley’s School Wreckers
I think I have some handwritten ones floating around somewhere, which I will post here when they get found and typed up. If I ever get that elusive muse back, maybe I'll write some more.
In real life news, job hunting is still yielding no results. I had a call from a company that I e-mailed my resume to (right before my "Canterbury Tales" class no less. I couldn't concentrate on the lecture as much as I would have liked). I called them after class and told them what my work schedule would be like if I did get the job and all they could tell me was that they wanted someone who could work mornings, which most college students with 15+ credits usually can't manage, so it's more than likely no dice -_-' Something has to happen; I can't stay in Logan next summer if I can't find a job. Oh well, I guess I'm building character, right? :p
Love from,
Jenny Wildcat
PS, If you haven't yet, go back and read my post from yesterday. It includes some really awesome ways for you to get involved in the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. I admit, most are limited to people in Utah (and even then, it's difficult if you live outside the Wasatch Front area), though there is one that anyone from anywhere can participate it, as long as they have a computer and an Internet connection, which you obviously have. Since it's from one of my favorite Harry Potter news sites, I back it with my full support!
