Back on a Monday after a long weekend. Thanksgiving was fun - more fun than usual, it seems. Of course, I missed it last year, so maybe that has something to do with that. Here's the rundown of my weekend, if you care to know.

Tuesday: Made it to Callao just in time for Pie Night at the church. Only had three slices, but it felt like more. Oh, I got into a fun two-hand touch football game with Johnny and the boys. Tore a hole in my "good" jeans, but had fun all the same (that's what needle-and-thread is for)

Wednesday: House cleaning, laundry-doing, cheese soup eating before the rest of the family gets here. My cousin Maryellen and her husband Chris make it out from Reno with kids in tow as well as Chris's brother, Daniel. Daniel, it turns out, is my age. Back in July during Emily's wedding, Maryellen (jokingly, I thought at the time) suggested that Daniel and I should meet. They at least had plans to get him out to Callao at some point. I didn't think it would be as fast as Thanksgiving. Actually, it was a lot of fun having Daniel visit. In a family of people that are all a lot older than me or a lot younger, there's something to be said for having someone my age to talk to.

(Oh, there was the obligatory drama from my mom's side of the family, but I want to keep this post as positive as possible. Happily, said drama stayed in the backseat while us fun people had a good time.)

Thursday: Turkey Day!! The food was good - the football... eh, not so much. I knew Detroit would lose, and Dallas would win (I hate Dallas), but I thought there would have been some hope of the Giants pulling it out.

There were other games to enjoy, though. One thing about my family - we LOVE card games. And we can come up with some awesome group games (or maybe that's just Chris - I wish they could come out for all the major holidays. Or maybe I need to move to Reno). Gathering at Molly's for leftovers and games became a nightly ritual all during the weekend. Scum was a favorite ^_^

Friday: Put together a pick-up basketball game at the high school. I managed to scrounge some basketball clothes (having left mine in Logan -_-') and that was a ton of fun. I'm extremely competitive and I get a little mean. I'm surprised at how well I can still play for not having played in a loooooong time.

Mom had gone Black Friday shopping - I could have gone with her, but I decided not to and I'm glad I stayed. Besides, she broke down on the way back and that incident caused more griping and family drama, but it stayed minimal.

More games and pie. Carissa (she's Maryellen and Chris's oldest) kicked me out of my bed, so I ended up sleeping on the futon mattress on the floor (it's not as bad as it sounds - I had left to get ready for bed and by the time I got back, Carissa was fast asleep on top on my covers. So, I threw a blanket over her and found another place to stretch out. It was kinda cute, actually. Funny, too).

Saturday: Holding with tradition, the Utah-byu rivalry game. More angst in the football department. I swear, byu goes to the nearest Coldstone (seeing as how they wouldn't pull someone out of a bar in Provo) and finds the biggest idiots to referee the game. In all fairness (trying to have some class - see later footnote), Jordan Wynn really didn't play well - he couldn't complete a pass to save his life (darned receivers couldn't catch either - unless they were in the endzone). After the game, I marched over to Molly's to take my mind off life (Jingles had his snotty little comments to make - but that's just because he's not as uptight about football as I am). Ate lasagna and more pie and got roped into a Cribbage tournament with Daniel (with some help from Johnny and Aunt Kathy). That was actually a ton of fun and I forgot about my team losing for a while and focused on ME losing because I stunk at Cribbage, but Daniel and I ganged up on Maryellen and Johnny at Sequence, so that made up for it (Daniel had to be Scum for a couple of turns a few days earlier, so everything evened out in the end)

Sunday: Church - no one brought up the game (I think all the byu fans moved). After church, went home, played three rounds of dominoes before I had to pack up and head back north for another week (was it just me, or was someone sad to see me go? No, not the dog - guess again ^_^). Usually, I'm really upset to leave home when all these cousins are out because I don't get to spend a lot of time with all of them and I LOVE it when Maryellen and Chris come out with the kids and Maryellen and Molly are just a lot of fun to be around. Everybody's just really.... cool (I'm kind of lame when I try to explain it, so I'll just leave it at that). I was a little sad to a degree, but it was actually okay. Mostly, I felt happy that I got to be home with all these fun people and that I had a good, simple weekend and nobody had to yell or gripe about anybody else.

And the footnote:

I didn't get the full max hall rant story until today. Personally, I think it's hilarious. It was Senior Night at byu on Saturday, the zoobies won, but maxy has to go and throw his little hissy fit over Utah fans - moments after the ding-dong threw the winning touchdown pass in overtime. Don't you think that was a tad unnecessary? I suppose I should be thanking him. His ill-informed comments make the loss easier to deal with (though not as well as Cribbage, apparently ^_^).

In honor of this event, I found this gem of a YouTube video to share:

(Hopefully nothing in this post gets me into trouble...)
