I watched the second episode of "V" tonight.  I must say - I'm intrigued at how this is going to play out.  Spoilers abound!!

It's weird - part of me feels like I'm watching "24" - but then "The Host" by Stephenie Meyer keeps showing up too.  Interesting premise to say the least.

Prediction of Death #1: Chad Decker is dead by the end of the season at the latest.  Even being a smarmy anchorman interested in furthering his career does not preclude him from the wrath of Anna.

Every time Anna says "We come in peace, always" (or whatever the V's little catchphrase is) I keep getting these weird "Heil Hitler" vibes.  Maybe it's just me.

This was something from the first episode, but after the spaceships appear and all the mayhem and destruction has caused a panic, Anna appears and says "We mean you no harm."  Umm... isn't it a little late for that, honey?

My roommate pointed this out: Father Jack - just like Jack Bauer!!  Hey, Erica works for FBI Counter-terrorism.  Hee hee hee ^_^

I'm really, really, REALLY into the whole "Resistance" thing.  Especially that Ryan is one of the Visitors and he's turned traitor.  Ryan is made of win.  Officially.  I want to know the guy's story and how he turned to the Rebel Alliance (for lack of a better already-copyrighted term).  Now... the hopeless romantic fangirl in me is hoping that Valerie doesn't get killed for it (oh - she's already ransom fodder at the very least.  I can smell this a mile away.)

Speaking of Valerie - she was the thorn in Michelle Dessler's side during the 2nd season of "24." And she tried to blackmail Tony.  Hm... well, let's see how "damsel-in-distress" roles suit her.

Oh, the other Catholic priest guy - Father Jack's opposite (I forget his name)?  He's a Visitor.  Has to be.

Another Input from My Roommate: Snakes on a Spaceship = CREEPY!!!!

I may be the only one who noticed this, but the guy who plays Dale, Alan Tudyk, played Wat in "A Knight's Tale."  You know, the "I will fong you!" nerd.  So, now he's working for the V's to fong the human race!  Ha ha ha ah-ha.. heh... ha ha.... ha... shutting up...

Sorry this is turning out kind of lame.  I probably should have been taking notes.  Or maybe "V" isn't made for humorous rehashes.  Actually, Tyler will probably provide for many jokes in the weeks to come.  Which makes me think - what if Lisa turns traitor to the V's?  I see some potential there.  What's the betting she's the only daughter of some not-so-high chancellor-type guy and she's, like, his little princess and she can get anything she wants out of Daddy?  I'm just speculating, of course.  But it's interesting to think about.

For future reference - aliens do NOT show up out of the blue and willingly offer to share technology and let their spaceships become tourist attractions without some ulterior motive.  Nor do crooked politicians stand up and offer free bread and circuses without there being a larger price to be paid (*nod to Rome*).  I don't care if the writers didn't intend that message, it's there are people are going to find it.  Kind of like scholars decided Shakespeare was gay because he had Viola dress in men's clothes (hey, if academia can use post-impressionism literary BS, then I certainly can use it to my own advantages.  Suckers).

Hollywood knows where their bread is buttered.  As Forrest once said "That's all I have to say about that."

PS - "V" has my creative wheels turning.  Not for anything that has to do with the plot of my main story, but of something that happens before the book actually begins.  Sort of prequel material.  Not that I have plans for a prequel, but it's good to know where your characters have been before they get where they're going.
