This was the first episode of "Heroes" I've ever watched at my parents' house (if they didn't think I was nuts before, they know it now). Do you know how hard it is to explain "Heroes" to someone who has never seen it but wants to watch tonight's episode with you?  I guess [profile] adjie1026 and I need to have a "Heroes" marathon or something (I'm glad my sister is as weird as I am).

Yes, and spoilers.

In which the Hormonal Teenage Girl takes over.  In a series riddled with Daddy Issues, you knew Claire's little hissy fit was coming.  And given what ended up happening, she gets to join an elite group of Daddy Guilt.  C'mon, everyone has it: Matt, Claire, Mohinder, Elle, Peter and Nathan (probably)....

Elle - Or as I like to call her - Dolores Umbridge: The Early Years.  All she needs now is Pepto-Bismol pink and devil kittens.  Then again, with a guy like Bob as your sperm donor ("It is a euphemism") she's just carrying on the family tradition.

Matt's power just became that much more EEEEeeevil.  He and Mohinder win in the Morally Gray area of life (that's not a complement).  In the meantime, Molly, eat your vegetables.

Claire's Apology to West - And I thought using fortune cookies to ask a guy to prom was creative.  Then again, I wasn't asking the guy who took the Clark Kent route to school (was it me, or was there a point where West looked like the guy from Smallville?)

West - When's the last time a guy could get his chicky-poo's dad's attention that completely?  I toss him mega points for ingenuity.

Hiro - Everything in this episode = WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN!!!!  From his insistence that he save his father from being killed to chibi!Hiro at his mother's funeral (I want to give that kid cookies, like, ten million times over) and his eulogy on not eulogizing his father, is it any wonder why Hiro is the most faved character on this show? (I'm not citing any big polls or studies on this, but I'm sure I'm pretty close to the mark).

Can I say this?  Masi Oka is wonderful and adorable and pretty much every positive adjective you can think of.  But when he tears up... there's not a dry eye in the house (that guy is dangerous when he gets emotional - I love him so much it's not even funny T_T)

Kaito Nakamura - I totally love his attitude about having powers (just like I love Hiro's attitude).  Sort of a Spider-Man "great power=great responsibility" thing.  And he actually gives a rat's left toe about how his son handles having powers (unlike a certain power-hungry politician's mommy I can think of).  He's been made of win since that little training session last season.  Oto-san, Godspeed.

[A Quick Thought, Speaking of Kaito-san: Again, I ask WHY?!!!!  WHY did you guys off the best example of a parental unit we have on "Heroes?"  In favor of keeping, who, Angela "cuddly as a piranha" Petrelli?  Whoever had that "spark of brilliance," I spit in your general direction.]

Winner of Quote of the Week - Hiro for "I've just come from your funeral."  The Nakamura family is just... wonderful.  How many kids get to say that to their parents? (none, I'd imagine)  I was so upset when Kaito-san died and Hiro was stuck in 1671 running after that stupid wannabe-samurai.  At least, Hiro got to say good-bye (*sob*).

"Adam/Kensei" - or whatever the SoB is calling himself these days... Somehow, I knew that it would be the character David Anders plays that would off Hiro's dad.  I wonder if he knows that's Hiro's dad.  He might... back in 1671, he did say that he would take everything Hiro loved (or something to that effect).
Whatever... if Hiro gets to smack the b******, I would love it.

Mohinder - Great intentions.  Crappy timing.  Damn gullible.  And gives new meaning to the term "bullseye." (can you now practice your quick-shot skills on the new HRG?  And his psycho-sparky-babe daughter, ple-eaz?)

Daddy Bennet - For once, I approve of his methods.  I kinda liked seeing Elle on the rocks (well, it was actually the dog's bathtub, but it works).  And he wins Honorable Mention for QotW - "Stings like a bitch, don't it?" (sorry, Favorite Family Nakamura trumps angry vengeful daddy).
Five seconds after I realized Claire could save his life, she and West take off into the great blue yonder (morons...)  But I'm curious as to who had the same idea I had.  Probably Mohinder, once he figured out that The Company(tm) really was bad news.

Next Week - Honestly, the preview is probably more exciting than the actual episode will be.  Even so...
Hiro!  Don't kill Peter!! (he won't; I'm not worried).

Who is Victoria Pratt?

Of course Adam knew that Kaito Nakamura was Hiro's father. For him it had all happened when he met Kaito (remember, Adam is in the big death photo) and he had waited for 400 years. So when he met Kaito Nakamura, he knew that Hiro was soon to come. Trippy, isn't it, to think of having to wait for the kid you want to kill to be born.

I have no doubts that Adam wanted to kill Kaito himself. To get back at Hiro.

So this is a 400-year territory fight over a girl's heart!?! Bad Adam! Bad!

Well, how many fights get started because of a love triangle? (I've been re-watching Fushigi Yugi - right in the middle of the Miaka-Tamahome-Yui drama... yeah... fun...)

Ugh, then I start thinking "What if the guy just killed Kaito before Hiro was born?"... but then he would never meet Hiro and wouldn't be in this situation...

Oy, time-travel is trippy by default. I try not to think too deeply about time-travel "what ifs." I just enjoy it's purpose in the given story.
