Back at work this week after a long-overdue and desperately needed weekend at home. With Labor Day gone, I'm guessing that means that summer is officially over. And I have two pages of flist to read today. Eh, that's what happens when I go dark from the entire world (but on the flip side, I didn't have a ton of cell phone messages).

I got to Delta just fine in time for the football game. My brother, M, got to start because a bunch of the regular starters got caught skipping an assembly (morons). My parents were both nervous wrecks. I'm just glad I didn't have to drive down with them. I highly doubt M was nervous at all.

But something really really awesome happened - Delta was playing Grantsville, which we used to live in Grantsville. Part of the reason my dad was so nervous was that a lot of old school buddies have kids on the team and he wanted M to do a good job. Personally, I just wanted Delta to kick the snot out of Grantsville (let's just say that I have a lot of unresolved tension toward that school).

Anyway, M was playing defense and Grantsville's quarterback was this kid, A, that M played with when they played Little League football in Grantsville. Something happened one year that put A's dad as the coach, but he wouldn't ever play my brother. The coach always said that M was too timid and weak and that he didn't belong on the football field.

So, last Friday, in front of the whole town of Delta and in front of the Grantsville fans that made the trip (A's parents included), M sacked A for no gain (that's what the announcer said). There was much high-fiving and joy in our little corner of the stands.

What makes it even more sweet is that A's older whore sister is my age and she was the biggest snot-faced b**** on the face of the planet. Yeah, I don't like her. I don't think she was there, but if she was, I hope she heard my trash-talking ^_^

Friday was a good day. Final score: Delta 19 Grantsville 0

Got home Friday night at midnight - bed at 1:00 am (as tired as I was after all that driving, none of us wanted to go to bed).  Saturday my aunts, uncles and cousins were all out and my grandparents showed up eventually.  I spent the whole day watching football games with my cousin, W, and her husband, J (they just got married last November) and giggling cruelly at Michigan's misfortune (the #5 team beaten by a I-AA school - man, it doesn't get more entertaining than that) and watching Notre Dame pretty much sucking it up.  Hey, I'm in for a long football season with regards to the local college scene (damn BYU had to win... I'm not going to Institute this week), so I have to get my kicks somewhere).

It was nice to get to know this guy (what do I call him, my cousin-in-law? :\) - I only met him at the wedding reception it and then it was only "Hi, thanks for coming" "Congratulations."  He's actually a pretty cool guy - he's funny, respectful and he was genuinely trying to be part of the family, which, I think he succeeded.

I really didn't do much this weekend - just hung out with the family.  Watched a lot of football, watched some movies.  Ate lots of tasty home-cooked food (mmm... barbecue beef from the crock pot).  Played Super Nintendo with my brother and my sisters.  Packed up a bunch of my crap that I wanted in Salt Lake (filled up two boxes and all my luggage).  Woke up with a huge stinkbug on my shoulder (it's the time of the year where they all migrate into our basement - life in the desert).  They aren't dangerous or anything, they're just big and nasty, especially when you step on them - I just tried to scoop them up on a piece of paper and toss them outside.

Oh, and I watched Saturday Night Live for the first time ever.  I dunno if it's really my cup of tea, though.  And I watched Family Guy.  Yeah, that's really not my thing.  Not that I'm not into comedy - I watched the Simpsons and King of the Hill with my siblings, but I've watched those before.

Really, nothing terribly exciting happened this weekend.  Well, maybe except my cousin, M's, step-brother came to church.  I guess they wanted to test the architectural integrity of the building.  I dunno how M got him to come, but she did.  He's kind of a renegade - had problems with alcohol and women.  There is hope for the rest of the world.

But the best part of this weekend was doing nothing.  I didn't have to worry about going to work, having to be somewhere or being responsible or thinking about life.  I'm like Pooh Bear - let's do nothing every day!

Yeah, I wish.  No, I'm back here at work, but I can take heart in the fact that it's only a four-day week.  And Delta's playing South Summit this Friday, which is only about an hour from Salt Lake and I'm planning on going (hey, it's his senior year and I'm not going to get to see him play very many more times).
