See what happens when I disappear for two days? The freakin' title of the seventh Harry Potter is announced! For the last time, I missed all he fun and excitement of scouring jkrowling.com for the riddle and the answers and all that fun stuff!  I'm so irritated!  This happened for Half-Blood Prince too.  I was on my way home for Christmas, but I had to stay in town for a couple of days to help my parents with Christmas shopping, so I didn't get to where I had internet access until I got to Callao.  The worst part: it's not like I wasn't keeping an eye on the news while I was gone.  I guess blizzards in Denver (OMIGAWSH it snowed in Colorado???!!!11!1!spaz!!) and drama between Donald Trump and Miss Piggy -- I mean Rosie O'Donnell -- over Miss USA preempts the title of HP7.

Sooo, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, huh?  I guess it'll have to grow on me.  I wasn't too crazy over the title "Half-Blood Prince" either, but it turned out that the title really had little to do with the overall plot.  I still maintain that it's a pretty far stretch for Snape to call himself the Half-Blood Prince.  Half-blood, I get, but Prince?  Just because that was his mother's maiden name?  Well, wherever you can base your authority...

Back to Deathly Hallows: I don't think this means that Harry has to die.  A main character may die, which (as much as it pains me to say it) my vote's on Neville.  Don't ask me why I say that, because it would take me forever to explain.  Hallows... I thought of Godric's Hollow, but that's not quite the same thing.  It would bring everything full circle, certainly.  I listened to PotterCast #67 while I was in St. George and Canon Conundrums was discussing the locked Love Room in the Ministry.  Jason (Guru of Sloth) thought that maybe the final battle would take place there, but he also pointed out that he's thought that about all the places they've discussed on CC.  That led me to think that the FINAL BATTLE will be something akin to the end of Star Wars.  If you've seen Return of the Jedi or even Phantom Menace, you know that a number of battles were taking place in all kinds of different places.  Some were connected (Lando blowing up the Death Star and Han Solo knocking out the shield on Endor) and others had nothing to do with anything else going on (Luke taking on Darth Vader and the Emperor).  I think that the end of Harry Potter will be something like that.  There will be a group at Hogwarts having it out, there may be someone at the Ministry and then Harry and Voldy will be at Godric's Hollow or somewhere else like that in the big one-on-one shootout.  They could even be in the Little Hangleton graveyard or the Riddle House.  There are plenty of places that the big final battle could take place and it could even be in multiple places.  I maintain that there will be something going down at Hogwarts, though.

Well, I want to blog about my trip, but I'm still sore from riding home from St. George.  I didn't realize that the Las Vegas Bowl was this week, so it didn't occur to me that St. George would turn into Provo-South until I was actually in line at the Chuck-a-Rama. (Look for that post later tonight)

Okay, I can talk now.  I spent the last two days in Cedar City and St. George watching my brother play basketball games and Christmas shopping and ribbing the Zoobie fans on their way to the Las Vegas Bowl.

Wow, thanks for getting through that insanely long post, but hey, I've been away for a few days.  Say what you will about how wonderful Johnny Beck is and how cute BYU is, I'd still rather be a Utah Man.

Love from,

PS, I wonder, how great is it that BYU is winning if they're playing a team (Oregon) that doesn't even want to be there?  Just an observation...
