What Would You Do For PotterCast?
Oct. 6th, 2006 12:45 amI think I just came up with their next contest!
I had meant to blog about this earlier, but I have been at work since 11 this morning and since people coming tearing after me when it smells like I'm thinking about being bored, I haven't had a chance. But, here is my reaction to the PotterCast Episode 57 shout outs (Caution: your internet eardrums are about to explode):
MELISSA ANELLI READ MY NAME ON THE LIST OF PEOPLE THAT FRIENDED POTTERCAST ON MYSPACE!!!! SQUEEEEEE!!!11ELEVENTY-ONE!!!!111!!
Okay, I'm good now.
Seriously, though, that was the coolest thing ever. The only thing that could have been better is if I'd actually won the contest (like that's going to happen; I'm not clever enough to pull of a best use of "Just go, you're wasting time", but I don't begrudge the one who won). I was listening to the most recent episode on the Aggie Shuttle on my way home to go to work this morning and Melissa started rattling off names and she said my name right before she went on about someone who had abused their symbols key. I was so giddy that I think I scared a few people on the bus ^_^
I have thoroughly enjoyed this PotterCast Blog contest. It is far from over and I will keep blogging about them as long as they provide me with interesting stuff to blog about (which, I don't doubt that they will. For all the conversation I've had with my iPod during the show, I'm sure some of it will seep into my blogging practices).
When school started, I was afraid that I wouldn't have time to sit and listen to PotterCast on my computer like I had heretofore done. My schedule has become so busy that I barely have any time between classes and work and church and everything else I have to do. But, I was adamant that I would indeed have my PotterCast. So, what do I do? The best solution was to find a way to listen to PotterCast without it slowing me down. Well, what's the idea behind a podcast? You guessed it: I dipped into the money I had saved by working this summer and I splurged for an iPod Nano. I have wanted one for some time, but I just didn't have the money or I kept saying "Maybe for Christmas/my birthday." But, once my PotterCast listening routine was threatened, I said to heck with it and got the iPod with my own, rather precious, hard-earned cash. Honestly, PotterCast makes me feel so much better when I'm having bad days and significantly improves my good days. I think I would have gone crazy had I not been able to listen to PotterCast at least inbetween going to classes, coming home and doing all my running around.
Now, the only problem is that I like to argue my point along with Canon Conundrums and Voice Mails and things like that and it causes a few raised eyebrows around campus. Good thing I don't pay attention to what other people are doing..
So, you see? PotterCast has become such an integral part of my everyday life that I spent $250 just so I could take the PC Trio with me wherever I go (I had to get the 4GB. Have you seen my music collection? It's scary ^_^) And, I am honored that I could enter the halls of PotterCast lore, if only for a brief tenth of a second. Hey, I've gotta take my glory where I can get it. Since I don't have Audacity or Skype, I do the next best thing (I have written filks, but I don't have the technology to make it sound good so they'll play it. Hey, there's a thought: If anyone is interested, you could sing my filks. I don't particularly like hearing my singing voice, but as long as I got credit for writing the lyrics, anyone who wants to could sing them and mix them and all the fun little things that I'm not good at).
As a delayed afterthought: Note that I have ALWAYS written PotterCast with a capital "C". You can scroll through my previous entries and even on my MySpace page to verify. Melissa's not the only one who is a stickler for spelling (it comes with the territory of having been involved in writing, journalism, any sort of English/Language Arts).
Oh, and just to make this post complete:

Listen to PotterCast (with a Capital "C") or ... I know a Dawlish who knows a Dawlish that will send Dobby to exculpate* you

PS, Some background: My roommate
shellic was studying vocabulary for her GREs. She ran across the word "exculpate", which means to clear from charge or guilt; free from blame; vindicate (thanks dictionary.com). It's not quite the same thing, but trying saying "Dobby is exculpated" a few times and you'll get the gigglies too.[Unknown site tag]
