This is My Island in the Sun!

Since everyone else is wetting their pants about it: the whole country is in a heat wave in the middle of July.  As I have said before, this is not news, but I have a few observations to make about my life when it gets to be this hot:

• I spend a lot more time at the movie theater where it is nice and dark and air-conditioned.  The only bad part is that my financial situation can't handle more than three or four outings a week (darn that overpriced-but-dang-tasty popcorn)
• My computing exercises have been moved under my bed since that is where the air-conditioning vent is located in my bedroom (thank heaven for cinder blocks)
• I sleep on top of my covers in front of my WIDE OPEN window.  Despite the fact that the person in the bedroom window straight across my way left their lights on all night, I got a pretty good sleep last night, which is something quite new since we've been hitting upper 90-lower 100 degree weather.
• My feet stink (back to flip-flops, I suppose)
• I feel really bad for the people who are going to Lumos next week in Vegas.  This is the first time since I heard about it that I'm glad I'm not going.
• Ice cream makes it all better.
• While most squealy little blond bombshells go out tanning and flipping their hair in the sun, I make like a November bear and hibernate until Labor Day

Yup, that's about it
