Dignity? Who's Worried About Dignity?

Forging ahead into Series 5 of "Doctor Who." Thoughts about early episodes under the cut
"The Beast Below" - Amy Pond FTW!! I've said before how I love it when seemingly unconnected plot threads come together - well, this one took tiny, insignificant (at the time) throwaway lines and made a resolution out of it! (and I love that Amy realized the Star Whale volunteered to save Starship UK and they didn't have to torture it, but they could still sail on. Best of both worlds). And that is was Amy that put everything together - the children not getting eaten, the fact that something that old and the last of its kind would help children - Amy Pond rocks. The End.
This ending was wonderful - genius of an episode. And the Doctor's character continues to evolve (though I have to ask - when has the Doctor really "just" been an observer? How often does he wind up right in the middle of the action - pulling strings and saving planets? Someone wasn't entirely honest with his companion. "We're like wildlife documentary filmmakers" my foot... or whatever the line was). The point where he went after Amy for making his decisions for him was quite the curveball (never seen the Doctor go after his companion like that :\ ), but then she turned out to be right and everything was okay (let me repeat - Amy Pond wins at life!)
My memory must be going, because I can't remember exactly how the Doctor's line about "This will be short on dignity" went, but I do remember that it was hilarious. He completely deadpanned that one. ("and yes, you are covered in sick" Love it. Not that they were covered in whale vomit, but the delivery was quality. I have a feeling that Eleven is going to have more than his fair share of deadpanning. No complaints here - the more cheekiness from the Doctor, the happier I will be).
"The Victory of the Daleks" - I have a few words about this one. Not a lot - just a few.
I love the way they comes up with names for stuff in this show - the Oblivion Continuum? Almost as good as the Reality Bomb.
Amy, Amy, Amy, Amy, Amy. Is awesome. That's it. Bu why can't she remember the Daleks and the planets in the sky? Did she have a Donna!moment where she just wasn't paying attention? I doubt it - she's Amy. She's perceptive - she convinced the "bomb-explodes-at-any-moment" human-Dalek-robot scientist that he fancied a girl and that saved the planet (honestly - why didn't the Doctor think of that?) Stay tuned for further plot-thickening.
I giggled over the Doctor threatening the Daleks with a jelly-filled cookie. If you can't smash something to bits, bluff your way out of it (preferable with a tasty bakery product).
There were just so many good lines in this episode - like when the Doctor said Amy would be safer in the middle of the London Blitz rather than going with him to the Dalek ship. And I love all the Scottish jokes
(actually, I have to say this one thing and hope I don't get excoriated for it - there was one point in "The Beast Below" where Amy started talking and I swear she sounded like she had an American accent (she actually sounded like she was from Utah for a moment!) But then she kept talking and I realized it was Scottish - I'm really bad with placing accents. After I hear them for a minute, I get better, but it's just not my forte.)
Iiiiiiii... can't come up with anything snarky to say about the NEW! IMPROVED! FABULOUS! COLORFUL! Daleks. I'm sure it's already all been said (Exterminate the Rainbow!)
The Crack! Is Back! (ha ha)
It's official - I love the new Doctor. There was one point where Matt Smith was either going to grate on me or he was going to completely win me over - and he did the latter. I still miss David Tennant, but I think I can love them both. And I'm not getting rid of my Ten and Eleven icon anytime soon ^_^ (though I found an icon that has both Ten and Eleven and is captioned "Forever My Doctors" that I might be persuaded to swap out for if I feel so inclined)
