I ain't here to cause no trouble...
Feb. 3rd, 2008 03:16 pmI know, I know, I haven't been on LJ for a week. I kind of wanted my tribute to President Hinckley to stay up until his funeral yesterday (which, the funeral was really nice and peaceful and I'm pretty sure that the angels called in a favor to the weather department - yesterday was beautiful). Plus, I've been gearing up to go through the temple for the first time, which I also did yesterday. Obviously I can't really talk about it in detail, but it was really special. I had a bunch of family there and even my high school English teacher was one of the temple workers there (I'm really close to her, so that was pretty awesome). Suffice it to say that all the preparation and all the times I sang "I Love to See the Temple" in Primary and everything else that you do to steer yourself to the temple is totally worth it. True, I didn't completely understand everything that was going on, but that's why you go again and again. But I did understand that what I was doing was right and that was my goal.

Today is also Super Bowl Sunday, which is a big thing for my family. This year, I'm cheering for the younger Manning brother, Eli, and the New York Giants (if you've been paying attention to my football-related posts, you know that I hate the New England Patriots with a passion unbridled and would love nothing more than their wonderful perfect season to come crashing down around their ears).
This is why I never place bets (other than we've been counseled against gambling): I want to cheer for the team(s) that I like. I don't necessarily want to cheer for the team that conventional wisdom says will win (though, there a bit of a consensus this year that it's really either team's game to win). In fact, the way my luck generally runs, my team typically loses (with a few anomalies: see Super Bowl XLI and the Indianapolis Colts last year). This is the girl would would trade a Kobe Bryant rookie card because I hate Kobe Bryant. even though the card would probably be worth some money (luckily, I quit collecting sports cards years ago). I did play fantasy football this year, but I had players that I liked on my team, so I was glad to see them do well.
Anyway, Go Giants! See you all on the flip side ^_^
